Job Posting: Full-Time Farmer – Learn from a Master of Organic Farming

Location: Blue Sky Organic Farms, Litchfield Park & Waddell, Arizona

Position: Full-Time, Year-Round

We are a family-run farm known for growing the best-tasting organic produce in town. Our commitment to quality, sustainability, and food safety is unmatched, with our farm proudly holding Organic & USDA Harmonized GAP Plus+ certifications. We grow everything with care and integrity, providing fresh, local produce to our community through farmers' markets, local restaurants, and direct-to-consumer subscriptions.

We have row crops, greenhouses and high tunnels. Our integrity in farming is second to none. We believe in putting forth only the most nutritious, flavor-packed, beautiful crops a buyer can find.

We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team and learn from David, our farmer who has 30 years of experience growing exceptional organic produce. David’s deep knowledge and love for the land make him a true master of his craft, and we’re excited to share this opportunity to learn from him.

Position Overview:

This is a hands-on, full-time farming position with the opportunity to work side-by-side with an experienced farmer who has dedicated decades to perfecting the art of organic farming. This is not a 9-5 job—farming is a seven-day-a-week commitment, and we need someone who understands and embraces the tough, rewarding nature of farm life.

Responsibilities:

Assist in all aspects of farm operations, including planting, irrigation, weeding, harvesting, and packing.

Help maintain farm equipment, tools, and infrastructure.

Learn and implement sustainable, Organic farming techniques under David’s mentorship.

Participate in ensuring food safety and quality control in line with our USDA GAP Plus+ standards.

Support farm store operations and local farmer’s market sales.

What We're Looking For:

Commitment: Farming is demanding. We’re looking for someone who understands the work it takes to grow exceptional produce and is committed to the long hours and hard work.

Passion for Agriculture: You should have a genuine interest in farming, sustainability, and advancing agriculture in Arizona.

Willingness to Learn: Whether you're experienced or new to farming, you should be eager to learn from David’s decades of expertise.

Physical Stamina: Farming is labor-intensive, and you’ll need to be physically fit and prepared for long, physically demanding days.

Positive Attitude: We work as a close-knit team, and having a good attitude and a strong work ethic is key to succeeding on our farm.

Flexibility & Resilience: Weather, seasons, and market demands can change quickly—adaptability is essential.

Ideal Candidate:

Integrity, great attention to detail, problem-solving skills, physical stamina and strength.

Experience in farming or agriculture + 5 years row crop tractor experience, GPS a plus.

Knowledge of cultivation, planting, sprinkler and drip irrigation.

Strong interest in organic farming practices and soil fertility.

Familiarity with Arizona’s growing conditions is a plus.

A passion for local food, sustainability, and community.

Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.

Spanish-speaking a plus

Location:

Our original farm is in Litchfield Park, Arizona, with our second farm just a short drive away in Waddell. We are centrally located to many things Arizona has to offer: 30 minutes from downtown Phoenix, 2 hours from Sedona, 2.5 hours from Flagstaff and 3.5 hours from the Grand Canyon. 5 hours from San Diego. 

Salary:

Salary based on experience $50,000 to $60,000 to start. Health benefits, paid time off, produce allowance, and fun. This job is open and will be filled when the right candidate is found.
