OUR FARMER
David is a master at cultivating exceptionally flavorful organic produce. With a background as a chef in some of the most prestigious restaurants, he quickly recognized that the key to exceptional dishes lies in the quality of ingredients. This realization led him to trade the kitchen for the fields, where he could grow the ingredients he had always sought to perfect.
HOW WE GROW
David has been growing certified organic produce since 1995. Proudly certified by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), we use non-GMO, untreated seeds and follow USDA organic standards.Find out more about organic food production at www.ccof.org
OUR PRODUCE
You can find our fresh produce at the Downtown Phoenix and Gilbert Farmers Markets, our on-site Farm Store and on your plate at various local restaurants who know we grow the best produce around. Sprouts carries our best-selling triple washed salads as well as some exclusive blends. Seasonally, you can find our produce around Arizona at independent retailers and coops.
OUR FARM BOX PROGRAM
We offer a Farm Box program (formerly CSA), where community members support our farm and receive a weekly or bi-weekly share of our harvest. This is the most direct way to “vote with your dollar”, supporting your own health, your community and the environment.Your support matters. Maricopa County is at risk of losing most of its small farms in the coming years, as commercial and residential development continues to grow. Now is the time to take action—join our Farm Box program and help support local agriculture.

We offer certified organic nest-run eggs from our pasture-raised flock, all of whom live out their retirement here on the farm. We’re also home to an ever-growing herd of Nigerian and Nubian goats. They share the pasture with a small flock of ducks and various rescue horses, donkeys, pigs and Gavin the Goose, who thinks he’s a goat.
“The farmer has to be an optimist or he wouldn’t still be a farmer.”

MORE THAN ORGANIC
Our farm is certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). We grow all our produce from organic, non-GMO, and untreated seeds, following the strict guidelines set by the USDA National Organic Program. We’re proud to deliver the freshest, best-tasting organic produce and eggs in the state.
WE TAKE FOOD SAFETY SERIOUSLY
With everything we do, we have your family’s health in mind.
We are USDA Harmonized GAP Plus+ certified (HGAP+). This is a separate audit completed by the USDA. This certification means we have the best agricultural practices in place to verify that our vegetables are produced, packed, handled, and stored in the safest manner possible to minimize risks of microbial food safety hazards.

MEET SOME OF OUR TEAM
-
David
Farmer Extraordinaire
Former chef with a love of quality ingredients turned farmer. David has a reputation for excellence not only in the farming sector, but produce and restaurant communities as well, from here to the east coast.
David is intensely passionate about preserving Arizona’s farmland and providing fresh and local produce to our community. -
Sara
Master of Organic Mayhem
A passionate advocate for Arizona’s organic agriculture, Sara has dedicated her career to advancing sustainable farming practices, preserving farmland and strengthening our local food system. Sara finds inspiration in her two amazing children, the land and animals, art and music.
-
Scout
Resident Horse Girl
Having essentially grown up on the farm with a farmer for a dad and former horse girl for a mom, Scout is an invaluable part of the Blue Sky team. When she’s not riding or tending to her horse, you can often see her driving the golf cart to feed the animals, helping with any and all farm chores, selling lemonade at her stand, or helping out in the Farm Store.
(We are eternally grateful she’s grown up and her "help” in the Farm Store is actually help these days!)
-
Addie
Future Ninja
Addie is often seen side-kicking it with her older sister and she’s just as good at driving the golf cart. What she lacks in any desire to do chores, she makes up for by being one of the funniest people we know, and laughter as we know is some of the best medicine!

Our Blue Sky North Field Crew
The Cultivators of Deliciousness
David of course is our fearless, tireless leader—but he’s far from alone out there. He has an incredible team behind him: our Field Crew at the North Farm.
In the fields, you’ll find Jairo, Brayan, Onesimo, Pedro, Saul, Primitivo, Christian, Pascual, Alfredo, and Refugio working alongside David each day—rain or shine, heatwave or harvest. Jairo assists with much of the tractor work, and Brayan leads the charge as our Harvest Lead. But truthfully, every one of these guys pours care and attention into every row, every plant, every corner of this farm.
We are endlessly lucky to have such a hardworking, kind and dedicated crew! These guys dedicate a large portion of the year away from their own families in Mexico to work alongside us, and their commitment, skill, and heart show up in every single thing we grow.
Words don’t quite capture the depth of our gratitude for what they bring to our fields, our daily operations and our peace of mind. We are beyond lucky to have found them—and even luckier to have them return season after season. -
Our Blue Sky South Crew
The Commanders of Freshness
These wonderful humans are the hands and hearts behind every crisp leaf and carrot. They wash and pack our produce, tend to the greenhouses and crops, and care for our many animals at our original farm in Litchfield Park.
Lupe has worked for Blue Sky for over a decade and is, without a doubt, one of the loveliest humans alive. (And she can cook! Oooof, you don’t know what you’re missing). Officially she oversees the crew at our OG farm and leads the charge in washing and packing the produce that makes it to your tables — with a ton of help from Juan, Benjamin and Kevyn.
Jose Luis is some kind of angel sent from an animal heaven. He takes the incredible care of our literal hundreds of animals, wears a dozen hats, and somehow manages to do it all — and then some. Fredy tends the greenhouses with quiet patience and know-how, and Antonio is our go-to for anything that needs fixing (which is a lot).
Many of these guys have been with us for 5 years as H2A seasonal workers and go back home every summer before returning for another season of hard work and good vibes.
We truly couldn’t do this without them. Our H2A team is made up of hte hardest-working, kindest, most reliable people we’ve ever had the privilege to work with.
Each of them has been with us for multiple years, and over time, they’ve become more than just a crew—they’ve become family. -
Vicki
The Tech Whisperer
Vicki joined us after "retiring" early, and it’s clear she was sent by a universe that loves us—one that knew we needed a little balance to our semi-organized chaos. She’s also a wizard when it comes to solving IT problems.
But it’s not just admin and tech where Vicki shines. She’s become an absolute gift to our goats, lovingly tending to them, keeping detailed records, and making sure we always have the latest goat info up-to-date on our site.
-
Julia
Our Mutable Butterfly
A few years ago, Julia came to us right after high school looking for a part-time job. As one of the most charming and funny people we’ve ever had the pleasure to work with, we knew we couldn’t let her go. In a rather unorthodox and unplanned chain of events, we just kept giving Julia more hours and more to do until she realized we were adopting her into our farm family.
Julia somehow manages to run the Farm Store and the Farm Box program and be a joy to be around. We hope she sticks around for a long time! -
Danielle
Chef, Truth Teller
Danielle is one of those rare, magical people—salt of the earth with a wicked sense of humor and just the right amount of cynicism. Her story is a bit like Julia’s: about 7 years ago she worked with us "just on Saturdays," with the simple goal of making our world-famous* strawberry jam and a few weekend treats. In fact, she was our "practice round" for Julia—and after just a few months, we stole her away full-time from her far less entertaining job.
Danielle is the creative genius behind all those delicious things you love—our baked goods, dressings, salads, and more.
-
Katerina
Juggler of Randomness
Katerina found her way to the farm about 7 years ago, and takes credit for “stealing” Danielle all those years ago.
In her first year, she transformed our cozy Farm Store into the cutest miniature general store, which will always hold a very special in her heart.
As for her title? Well, it’s an ever-changing mystery. But Katerina has, at some point, experienced nearly every job on the farm (*with varying degrees of success, mind you), with exceptions of trimming goat hooves and driving a tractor. And she’s still waiting for David to hand over the keys. -
Megan
Animal and Child Whisperer
Megan has been part of our farm family for over six years and is our resident animal whisperer/jack-of-all-trades. If it walks, crawls, flies, or oinks—chances are Megan knows how to care for it, fix its shelter, and give it a nickname. With a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences and currently pursuing her master’s (yes, she’s basically a superhero), she somehow still shows up every day with a smile, a great attitude, and usually some dirt on her boots. Megan keeps the animals happy, the humans sane, and the farm running smoother than we deserve.
On top of it all, Megan helps homeschool our girls, bringing creativity, patience, and fun to their learning every day. She makes education feel like an adventure and reminds us all that curiosity doesn’t stop at any age. Megan brings warmth, wisdom, and a whole lot of heart to our team, and we’d be absolutely lost without her. -

Drew
Fixer of things
A 20-year Air Force veteran, Drew brings a whole lot of skill—and just as much humor—to the farm. He served one year in Korea and completed two tours in Kuwait before eventually finding his way to us. After generously spending over a year volunteering his Saturdays while his son played with our girls, we knew we couldn’t let him go. Drew is now an official (and essential) part of our farm crew.
He oversees all maintenance around here, shows up for all our wild farm projects (and trust us, there are many), and keeps the wheels turning—both literally and figuratively. Whether he’s fixing equipment, quoting song lyrics, or delivering a perfectly timed dad joke, Drew brings a steady hand and a whole lot of personality. He keeps us laughing, occasionally rolling our eyes, and always grateful to have him on the team.
Thank you to PARAGRAPHIC for their wonderful work featuring us and so many incredible artisans in Arizona!
