Our love for these four legged creatures didn’t just come about overnight. It actually began with a desire to provide extra nutrients to the dogs that our farm’s general manager had rescued from the streets of Buckeye. With a background in holistic dog nutrition, Sara took a leap and purchased four goats. Two does named Karma and Suede, as well as one buck Edgar and his pal Eeyore. It didn’t take too long before the does were producing milk, and the rescued dogs began to recuperate. After seeing the benefits of goat’s milk in action, Sara and our farmer David, found out they were expecting and knew that they wanted to provide this source of nutrition to their growing little one, too. And, from their let’s just say the original four soon blossomed into a beautiful herd that is growing! As a matter of fact, just this year we have had 20 baby goats born at Blue Sky Organic Farms.
In conclusion, what began as a means to provide greater nourishment to her rescued dogs and family, soon transitioned into a great love affair with these fun, loving creatures. Their sweet, yet rambunctious dispositions have created a space for entertainment and joy here at the farm. We invite you to come partake in this same enjoyment, when our Farm Store is Open (Tuesday 12pm-6pm, Friday 12pm-5pm, and Saturday 10am-5pm). We even have “Goat Cones” available for purchase to help feed our growing farm family.
